Keeping Up with the Holiday Consumer

While the holiday season is very important for retailers, it also marks one of the most unsettling times for consumers.

Retailers that want to provide a convenient and stress-free shopping experience for their customers need to pay attention to what those consumers actually want. We surveyed 1,100 American shoppers about their holiday shopping pet peeves and what they wanted most from retailers this season, and they told us: 

  • 1/2 of all shoppers have had problems with retailers during the holiday season - primarily with shipping and inventory management.
  • 54% of shoppers want to shop online/mobile and immediately pick up in store
  • Physical stores are still important - one in four shoppers start their holiday shopping in-store.
  • 32% of shoppers want perks - like skipping the check-out line - if they participate in a loyalty program
